Commander Keen 1: Marooned on Mars

Commander Keen 1: Marooned on Mars is a platform video game developed by id Software and published by Apogee Software in 1990 as shareware for MS-DOS. The game follows the adventures of an eight-year-old genius named Billy Blaze, who uses his homemade spaceship to travel to various alien planets to save the Earth from alien invaders known as Vorticons.
Commander Keen is known for its side-scrolling gameplay, colorful graphics, and charming protagonist. It was one of the earliest games to feature smooth scrolling on PC hardware, which was a technical achievement at the time.

Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons is divided into three episodes: "Marooned on Mars", "The Earth Explodes", and "Keen Must Die!", and the game was published through a shareware model whereby "Marooned on Mars" was released for free, and the other two episodes were available for purchase.
