Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is a role-playing video game that was first released in 1981. It's one of the pioneering titles in the dungeon-crawling genre and one of the first computer role-playing games (CRPGs).
Developed by Andrew C. Greenberg and Robert Woodhead, and published by Sir-Tech, Wizardry was initially released for the Apple II and later adapted for various other platforms, including the Commodore 64 and MS-DOS.

    @dwr The first couple of Wizardry games are notoriously difficult to run. In order to do that you should create a party on a disk first, and that's not an easy task on a Windows machine using a DOS emulator.

    this game refers to inserting floppy disks which is confusing
    In the game it refers to the symbol and ESC, neither of which work

    I am trying to use D-Fend to run proving grounds. It attempts to load but goes blue screen and shuts down, what can I do?
