Double Dragon II: The Revenge (1988) takes everything that made the first game fun and cranks it up a notch. The story begins with tragedy—Marian, the damsel from the first game, is unceremoniously gunned down. Billy and Jimmy respond the only way they know how: by punching every thug in existence. The game refines the combat, adds more moves, and generally feels smoother than its predecessor. It’s still repetitive, but now with extra flair. For fans of two-player brawling, this was peak “brotherly bonding through violence,” and honestly, it still holds up in its chaotic, button-mashing glory.
